Polyurethane Wetted Parts

一. General


Series slurry pumps are heavy duty slurry pumps applied for delivering highly abrasive and high concentration slurries, especially suitable for grinding discharging, processing plant, tailing discharging, pipeline transport and some other special fields. The series of pump has the advantages of wide application, advanced construction, high universalization, reliable operation, long service life and easy installation and maintenance.  


Warman series slurry pumps could be installed in series according to special duty requirements for long distance delivery.

四. Features

1.Through bolts design is applied for heavy construction to make maintenance easier and downtime shorter.  

2.The casing is made from nodular cast iron which is durable, strong, and safe with long service life. 

3.High efficiency impeller with low speed large diameter is used for lengthening wear life and lowering operation cost.  

4.It has a wide runner and open-type inner passage which lowers the velocity of flow and thus the wear life of pump is prolonged and operation cost is lowered to the largest extend. 

5.The thick wetted parts (interior liner) qualify the pump for excellent anti corrosion performance, and it is easy to replace wetted parts and accordingly maintenance cost will be lowered and the wear life will be lengthened to the largest extend. 

6.Shortest shaft or impeller overhang for minimal axial misalignment prolongs the service life of packing.  

7.The bearing assembly could be maintained under condition of not disassembly, through which the pump could smoothly operate and therefore the bearing service life would be lengthened.   

8.Grease or oil lubricated bearing assembly is selected for easier maintenance and shorter downtime. 

9.Dry rotary shaft seal could be selected to lower the requirements of flushing water or even cancel flushing water. 

10.High efficiency expeller is used for lowering the requirements of flushing water or even cancelling the flushing water, meanwhile, the service life of packing is lengthened.

五.Polyurethane Elastomeric Wetted parts

1. The molecular structure of polyurethane elastomer contains macromolecule of carbamate repeat links. It is stepwise polymerized by isocyanate resin monomer and compound containing reactive hydrogen. It features lots of excellent performances for plenty of polar bond existing in its molecular structure and stable hydrogen bond existing among molecules, polyurethane elastomer has nice physical and mechanical properties, and it is acknowledged anti abrasive material and is known as “King of Anti Abrasive Materials”. It is a high polymer material between plastics and rubber, which has physical dynamic performance similar to rubber, and it could also be machined and formed like plastic materials. Polyurethane elastomeric material has the following advantages:


(1)Adjustability range of performance is large. Various physical and mechanical performances could be transformed within certain limits by materials selection or formula adjusting so as to meet users’ various requirements on products. 

(2)Excellent wear resistance. Especially under working conditions with wet medium like water, oil etc. its wear resistance is usually several to dozens times better than common rubber materials. 

(3)Machinability. Polyurethane elastomeric products could be machined such as lathing, milling and drilling etc. under a certain hardness range. 

(4)Oil resistant, ozone resistant, ageing resistant, radiation resistant, low temperature resistant. 


2.Polyurethane Elastomeric material applied for slurry pump wetted parts  

In view of the above mentioned advantages Polyurethane Elastomer contains, it has excellent operation effect when applied for slurry pump wetted parts. Now let’s compare Polyurethane Elastomer with high chrome cast iron and rubber:

Results compared with high chrome cast iron:

(1)Wear resistance of polyurethane is 5.3 times better than high chrome cast iron, when applying for mud pump, its service life will be 6-10 times longer than high chrome cast iron; when applying for slurry pump, its service life will be more than 3 times longer than high chrome cast iron. 

(2)Polyurethane materials will largely reduce the impeller weight; the passage surface of wetted parts is much smoother thus the dynamic consumption could be reduced when operating, and 20% electricity could be saved, 5%-10% efficiency of the pump will be raised. Meanwhile, lighter rotor lengthens the service life of bearing assembly, therefore, failure rate is decreased, maintenance cost is lowered, and downtime loss for maintenance is reduced.    

(3)Polyurethane material is vibration resistant and has excellent vibration absorption performance, through which vibration and noise could be reduced to a certain extend. 


Results compared with rubber:

(1)Hardness range of polyurethane is wider, from 20 to above 95(Shore A hardness). Polyurethane is still elastic with elongation at high hardness degree, while lots of packing shall be added for rubber material at the cost of lowering elasticity and performance. 

(2)Tear strength of polyurethane is strong and about 2 times stronger than natural rubber. 

(3)Wear resistance of polyurethane is about 3-5 times higher than natural rubber. 

(4)Polyurethane wetted parts could be cut and machined within a certain hardness range. 

(5)Polyurethane is dyeable and could be made to products of any color.
